Year Round Up

Happy New Years!!!

Can you believe it is 2016? This year has flown by (I know everyone says this) but it truly has been a crazy year. I am going to try and get back in to blogging this year and keep a schedule. I really need to time manage better and balance my life. Enough about the boring stuff. I though I would write my first post of 2016 about last year and every thing I made starting with February.

My younger sisters birthday is in March but since I was not going to be home I made a cake early. Her favorite cake is coconut cake. My favorite recipe is by Alton Brown because it makes the moistest (my lest favorite word) cake.

For pie day I made chocolate pudding pie. It was special because it was pie year 3/14/15.

In June I made chocolate chocolate chip cookies stuffed with candy. I used Reese’s peanut butter cups, Rolos and Hershey kisses.

I also made Oreo cupcakes for a high school bake sale. These are one of my favorite recipes to make and the most requested I get from friends.

In the summer is the one time I am able to bake for fun so I went a little crazy with baking. In June I also made Chocolate Sunday Cupcakes.

In July my best friend and I always have a Christmas in July party. This year I made sugar cookies for us to decorate. I ended up making a blog post about it later.

Then I made lemon raspberry cupcakes that were my first recipe blog post. You can read it here if you want.

For national cheesecake day I made mini cheesecake and cheesecakes dip.

In August I made vanilla cupcakes with a vanilla buttercream frosting and red velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting which were a part of my back to basics series that I never finished.

Then school stated and I stated slacking on blog posts. The rest of the things I made I planed to write a post about but never got around to it. All of these were made at school in my apartment.

My suite mate is in a sorority and had a tea party. I made sugar cookies in the shape of tea bags. My roommate and I had cut them out. We also made chocolate chip scones that were going to be a back to basics post.

I got a doughnut pan in September and made vanilla doughnuts that were baked. I also made chocolate chip cookies to send to my friend who goes to school 4 hours away. They never made it to her because I ended up eating them all.

To celebrate the 1st day of Autumn I made pumpkin doughnuts. This was last post I wrote.

For movie night I made S’mores dip. I have a hug obsession with anything S’mores related.

For my friends birthday we went apple picking. To use up the apples I made apple pies that looked like roses. Surprisingly they are actually not that hard to make.

In November the club I am in had their annual fashion show. There was a bake sale and the money went to Prevent Child Abuse in America. I made teddy bear cupcakes to sell. They were a lot of work but I think they came out well.

The last thing I made was for my roommate/ best friend’s birthday. Since we had an organic chemistry test on her birthday I decided to surprise her with a cake. In May I asked her for her favorite desert and she told me chocolate chip cookie cakes with vanilla ice cream. I changed it a bit and make chocolate chip cookie cake with vanilla ice cream in the middle. I warmed up the cake before adding the ice cream and it was a bad idea. If anyone makes it I would make it ahead and freeze it before cutting in to it.

That is all I made it 2015! I hope it inspired you to bake something. This year my goal is to post twice a week. Once on Monday that will be a recipe and I am going to call it Make it Monday. There will be one other post on Friday that is going to be Friday favorites. Hopefully I can post randomly in the week but I make no promises.

I hope you have a Happy New Year and a great weekend!!!!

Love,

Katie ❤
